SMITH, RONALD JOE, 57Silver Springs - Ronald J. Smith, 57 passed away Saturday, March 8, 2008 in Ocala. A native of Newport, Tennessee, he moved to Marion County in 1978 from New Jersey. He was owner of Cousin's Tree Service, a member of the East Marion Volunteer Fire Rescue. Ron also was active in many local car shows with his award winning, 1970 Dodge Dart. Survivors include his wife of 25 yrs. Shelley Smith, Silver Springs, his mother, Elmeda Smith, Silver Springs, daughters. Tracy Sue Smith and Ashley Lynn Smith both of Silver Springs, Samantha R. Smith-Dyer, Dunnellon, son Walter Kenneth Smith, Pittsgrove, NJ, sisters, Donna Jane Beckett, Greensboro, NC, Linda Cottrell-Freda, Pittsgrove, NJ and Two grandsons Mark and Joshua. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Mark and his father, Joe Smith. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2008 at Hiers Funeral Home, 910 SE Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala with visitation Thursday 5-7 p.m. He will be laid to rest in Pittsgrove, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Smith Family to help cover expenses.
