Robert Spear Horton, 87, Sarasota, died Jan. 13, 2005. He was born March 20, 1917, in Winona, Minn., and came to Sarasota from there in 1982. He was a lumber industry executive and president in 1975 of the National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association. He was an Army veteran and past president of Sarasota Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. He was a member of Church of the Redeemer-Episcopal. Survivors include his wife, Susan; daughters Mary Davie of Fountain Hills, Ariz., and Sarah Barrientos of Washington, D.C.; sons Robert Jr. of Elk River, Minn., and John S. of Missoula, Mont.; and a sister, Nancy H. Brereton of Sarasota. Visitation will be private. Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday at Church of the Redeemer. Burial will be in Winona. Jennings Funeral Home is in charge.
