Robert George Bob Parker, 72, died peacefully in the care and comfort of his family at his Cochituate residence following a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, February 21, 2011. He was born in Cambridge on March 10, 1938 the son of the late George G. Parker and A. Eileen (Fletcher) Parker. He is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Paula M. (Mostecki) Parker of Cochituate. He was the loving father of Lauren O. ODonnell and her husband Michael ODonnell and their children, Elisabeth, Grace, Catherine and Emma ODonnell all of North Easton and Keith R. Parker and his wife Sherry (Earle) Parker and their children Jason and Meaghan Parker all of Northborough. Also survived by two children Robert G. Parker Jr. and Tamara R. (Parker) Sistare. He was the brother of Joyce Fisher and her husband Jack of Bedford, Beverly Hokanson and her husband Ken of Shrewsbury, Judith Brickman and her husband Jonathan of Newton, Ronald Parker of Weston, Susan Heroux and her husband Bob of Sandwich, Roger Parker and his wife Pam of Billerica, Russell Parker and his wife Donna of Iverness, FL and the late Gloria Pepas wife of Joe of Elmsford, NY, and sister-in-law Pat (Barber) Bethoney of Albuquerque, NM. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Bob has been a longtime resident of Cochituate and spent his earlier years in Natick before moving to Cochituate at the age of 9. He was a graduate of Wayland High School with the Class of 1957 and excelled in football and basketball. At Wayland High School he was an outstanding running back and held the record for the highest points scored during a football season. He served his country proudly with the United States Army as a Private First Class and remained in active reserves until 1964. For over 24 years, he was associated with Victor Business Products in Waltham as a Sales Representative and retired in March of 1982. He was the founder and owner of Parker Business Products in Wellesley from 1982 until his retirement in 2004. For several years in the 1960s he was a partner in the B & K Pizza of Cochituate located on Main Street. He enjoyed spending his spare time totally remodeling his family homestead in Cochituate over the years. He loved and was devoted to his family and especially being with his grandchildren who were the center of his life. Bob was a self-starter educating himself in all aspects of his life including finance, health and nutrition, and home improvement. His hobbies included: physical fitness, camping, swimming, and being at the beaches of Sandy Neck on Cape Cod and Sunrise Beach in Marshfield with his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. At the request of his family there will be no funeral home visitations. A Memorial Mass celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, March 12th at 11 oclock at St. Zepherins Church, 99 Main St (Rte 27), Cochituate. Interment in the Parker family lot in Lakeview Cemetery will be held at a later date. His family requests that flowers be omitted and that memorial donations in Bobs memory be sent to the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk (BMJFW), Team Lexie and Kristen, PO Box 3595, Boston, MA 02241-3595, or a charity of your choice.
