GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Richard Paul Chadbourne, 54, of Grand Rapids, Mich., died Aug. 1, 2009 after his long-standing battle with depression.Born June 11, 1955 in Braintree, Mass., son of Richard and Pauline (Thomson) Chadbourne, he was raised in Hill, N.H. Paul resided in Franklin, N.H., until 2000, when he relocated to western New York.He was a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Army, serving time during Desert Strike. He was a foundryman by trade and a lifelong helicopter pilot. He was a motorcycle enthusiast, loved to be outside and enjoyed playing golf. He was a very creative man and spent many hours in his wood shop designing and building wooden toys. While the foundry was his means with which to earn a living, it was also one of his favorite hobbies, second only to flying helicopters.Survivors include his sister, Cindy Rowland of Cincinnati; two sons, Chris and Leela Chadbourne of Elba, N.Y., and Jeff Chadbourne of Depew, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Ethan Edward and Evelyn Rose Chadbourne of Elba, N.Y.; and dear friend Patti Warmington of Grand Rapids, Mich.There are no calling hours.
