Ralph D. (Pete) Peters, 81, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully at Superior Residences of Niceville on Aug. 14, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was born in Corning, Mo., and spent his youth on a farm in northwestern Missouri. He liked sports and played football, basketball and baseball at Fairfax High School. After high school, he served four years in the Air Force during the Korean conflict.Pete retired to Bluewater Bay in 1988 following a successful career in retail management. He was constantly working around the house and yard. Pete was an avid golfer and particularly enjoyed the leagues at Bluewater Bay. He was also active in his church, St. Paul Lutheran in Niceville, Fla., and local volunteer activities included poll worker, homeowners' association board and Sharing & Caring.He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Virginia; daughter, Kerry DeBold of Destin, Fla.; son, Scott (wife, Dawn) of Smithton, Ill.; grandchildren, Justin (wife, Katie) and Melinda DeBold of St. Louis, Mo., Christopher and Katherine Peters of Smithton, Steve Peters of Phoenix, Ariz.; and two great-grandchildren, Clayton Peters and Braylen Yuede. Pete was preceded in death by a son, Steven, as well as his parents, Irvin G. and Anna (Rebel) Peters, and four siblings.The family thanks Dr. Greg Piacente for the years of compassionate care given to Pete.Pete's wishes were to be cremated and have his ashes inurned in the Columbarium at St. Paul Lutheran Church. A private ceremony will be held at a later date.
