SHAW, Norah Kathleen. 96, Bedford, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully at home, Thursday, August 14, 2008. She was born in Whiteabbey near Belfast, Northern Ireland, on April 2, 1912, to the late James and Mary (Keefe) Cummings. Norah was predeceased by her husband Russell Shaw, her sister Edna Poulsen, her brother Harold Cummings, nephew Kenneth Cummings, and great- nephew Michael Leduc-Cummings. She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth (Peter Landry), grandsons Brent Landry (Kathleen McEachern), Daniel Landry (Jennifer Skidd), and great-grandchildren David and Caroline. Also surviving are Cummings family nieces and nephews Micheline, Suzanne, Francis, Richard, George, and Poulsen nephews David and Eric, along with all Cummings and Poulsen much-loved children and grandchildren. She emigrated from Ireland to Montreal with her family in 1929. Through the years she worked at various establishments in Montreal, including Eaton's, Leith's, Smith and Mains bakeries, and the Royal Bank cafeteria. Her husband Russell was a life-long CPR employee in Montreal's Windsor Station. Norah served her faith community at First Presbyterian Church for over 75 years in Verdun, Quebec before moving to Bedford in 2006. She was always an active and caring minded individual who helped any and all she could. A memorial service, followed by a reception, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 10 in First Presbyterian Church, 1445 Clemenceau St., Verdun, Quebec.
