She was born in Candler, NC, and spent her adult married life in Swannanoa, NC. Nancy was a daughter to the late Marcus Vester and Margaret Harwood. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Harris, who died in May, 2005; her brother, Robert Harwood; and her sister, Barbara Dorlan.She was a member of State Street Baptist Church. In addition to spending time with her family and close friends, she had an avid love for horses, travel and vintage cars. She was retired from Cooper-Bussmann, of Black Mountain, NC. Nancy is survived by her son, Mark Harris, of Swannanoa; daughters, Donnell Harris of Swannanoa, and DeeDee Buchanan and husband Ben, of Black Mountain; grandsons, Preston Harris, of Asheville, and Jake McClure, of Swannanoa; granddaughters, Heather Martin and husband Travis, and Taylor Buchanan, of Black Mountain; brothers, Larry Harwood and wife Amanda, and Monroe Payne and wife Melba; sisters, Wanda Fay Hollars and husband Frank, Louise Moore and husband Reese, and Carlotta Harwood; brother-in-law, Ronnie Harris and wife Kay; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.Services will be on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. with the Revs. Ronnie Harris and Steven Newman officiating. Burial will follow at Sky View Memorial Park, in East Asheville. Her family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.Nancy's family would like to thank everyone for their abundant acts of kindness. May God bless all of you.
