Nancy Fleming Miller, 84, of Locust Grove, Virginia, passed away at her home on Sunday, August 17, 2014. Born June 9, 1930 in Syracuse, New York, she was the daughter of the late Wesley and Adaline Fleming. Nancy graduated from Fayetteville, N.Y. Central School where her husband was her classmate. Following her retirement from Cazenovia College, she became the co-founder of the family owned and operated athletic equipment business. Nancy and her husband, Harvey, lived and raised their four children in Cazenovia, N.Y., and later retired to Lake of the Woods, Locust Grove, VA. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt, and surely will be missed by all her family and friends who knew her. She had a particular fondness for cats, birds, and collecting antiques. Nancy was also a member of Lake of the Woods Church, Locust Grove. In addition to her husband, Harvey, Nancy is survived by her children, Thomas Miller and wife, HuiYoun of Newport News, VA, Jeffrey Miller and wife, Wendy of Manlius, NY, Karol Toole and husband, Dr. Robert Toole of Cazenovia, NY, and David Miller and fiance, Kandy of Falmouth, VA. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Joshua, Timothy, Daniel, Matthew, Justin, Randy, Ashley, Andrew and Thomas; two great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Hannah; as well as several nieces and nephews. Nancy is preceded in death by two brothers, Malcolm Fleming of Manlius, NY and John Fleming of Utica, NY. A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. on Monday, August 25, 2014 at Lake of the Woods Church, Locust Grove, Va. Reverend Tom Schafer will officiate. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery, Cazenovia, New York. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Orange County Animal Shelter, 11362 Porter Rd., Orange, VA 22960.
