She was born in Nyack, New York and graduated from Nyack High School in 1946 and Plattsburgh Teachers College in 1952. After a few years of teaching in high schools in Rockland County, she went to New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM for her Masters Degree in Education. She was captivated by the beauty of the Southwest and made her home there for the next 50 years. Nancy truly enjoyed teaching high school, and she had many interests. She was an excellent bridge player and loved all kinds of music. She also loved to travel and took every opportunity to do so after she retired. She was involved in many social and cultural activities that were available at NMSU where her husband was a Professor of Agronomy. Nancy had a lively faith and a very generous nature and supported the Catholic education of several children in her local area and elsewhere. She is predeceased by her husband, W. Powell Anderson and her parents, George V. and Marian C. Dorsey. She will be greatly missed by her siblings, Thomas P. Dorsey, Francis Dorsey, Sr. Vincentia Dorsey and Ellen Dorsey Ziegler and their families and by her many friends. The family requests, that in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Good Samaritan Employee Christmas Fund. Please contact Julie at (575) 556-2119. A memorial Mass was held on August 22 at St. Genevieve's Church in Las Cruces, NM.
