RAGLAND - Peggy J. Smith, 73, of Ragland went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, October 27, 2009, after a long illness. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Nellie Miller, and two sisters. She was a member of Church of Christ. She enjoyed the outdoors and went fishing any chance she could and loved to work in her garden full of flowers. Peggy is survived by her husband, Ray Smith of 29 years; three children, David (Becky) Carter, Dana (Ray) McCormick and Glen (Lisa) Carter; four stepchildren, Ricky Smith, Mike (Marcia) Smith, Lisa Smith and Patricia (Billy) Hart; seven sisters, two brothers, 25 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, four of which lived next door to her. The Rev. Gary Leopard officiated chapel services at Ridout's Trussville Chapel, Friday, October 30, 2009, at 11:00 a.m., with burial following at Sunrise Memory Gardens in Pinson. The family will received friends on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The family would like to express special thanks to the nurses and staff of Alacare Hospice.
