ASHLAND — Funeral services for Mr. James Lowell Williams, 78, will be at Thursday, May 28, 2009, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Clay County Funeral Home with the Rev. Ben Rosser officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with graveside military honors. His family will receive friends at Clay County Funeral Home this evening from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. Mr. Williams was born December 5, 1930, he was one of three children of the late Otis and Leola Williams. He was a decorated veteran of the Korean War and a retired dairy farmer. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by one son, James Ronald Williams. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Louise Whatley Williams, of Ashland; two daughters, Ellen Drummond (Richard), of Johnson City, Tenn., Marsha Hunter (Jim), of Birmingham; one son, Wendell Williams (Allison), of San Francisco, Calif.; daughter-in-law, Janice Williams, Chelsea, Ala.; two sisters, Ruth Watts, of Dallas, Ga. and Peggy Fulbright, of Memphis, Tenn.; nine grandchildren, Laura and Megan Drummond, of Johnson City, Tenn., Samantha Williams, of Washington, D.C., Brad Williams, of San Francisco, Calif., Sandy Martin, of Daphne, Ala., Jimmy Williams, of Atlanta, Ga., Patrick Williams, Katherine Hunter and Andrew Hunter, of Birmingham and two great-grandchildren, Parker Martin and Callie Martin of Daphne, Ala. Serving as pallbearers for Mr. Williams will be Jimmy Williams, Patrick Williams, Brad Williams, Clint Martin, Steve Roberts, Greg Roberts, Warren Burkhead and Rusty Mattox. Honorary pallbearers will be Felton McCollum, Keith McCollum, Donald Harris, Dwight Harris, Leonard Danner, Ronald Mattox, Earl McKay, James Williamson, Cleve Pace, Ricky Little, Earl McKay, Alan Fulbright, Mark Fulbright, and Roger Roberts. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Liberty Baptist Church, P. O. Box 97, Ashland, Alabama 36251. Clay County Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
