BROOKLET, Ga. - Mr. Arthur Carl Scott, age 82, died Friday, November 11th, 2011, at Eagle Health and Rehabilitation in Statesboro. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was born November the 12th, 1928, the son of the late Arthur Joseph and Ada Hagan Scott. He retired from farming and as a carpenter in 1999. Mr. Scott was a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church, where he had served as Sunday School superintendent and former chairman of the Administrative Board. He was an avid fisherman who loved the outdoors. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Scott. Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Randy and Debbie Scott and Ronnie Scott, all of Brooklet, Ga.; three grandchildren, Randy Scott Jr. and wife, Tonya, and Joey Scott, all of Brooklet, and Sara Scott of New Orleans; a sister, Jewell Baird of Batesburg, S.C.; and four great-grandchildren, Willy, Chris, Jared and Taylor. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-6 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro. The funeral service will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the New Hope United Methodist Church with Elder Randy Waters officiating, assisted by the Rev. Stephanie Smith. The body will lie-in-state one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dewayne Starling, Gerald Ward, Andy Dyches, Don Martin, Bobby Campbell, Earl Knight, Ralph Graham and Sammy Baird. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the New Hope Friendship Sunday School Class. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the New Hope United Methodist Church, 9623 Georgia Highway 24, Statesboro, Ga. 30461.
