LEOMINSTER -- Mary (Rowe) Johnson, 90, of 29 Merriam Parkway, Fitchburg, formerly of Leominster, died Thursday, Oct. 30, in HealthAlliance Hospital/Leominster. Mrs. Johnson was born in Fitchburg on Sept. 28, 1913, the daughter of Joseph and Minnie (Gorman) Rowe, and had lived in Leominster most of her life. She was a member of the first graduating class of the Practical Nursing Program at Leominster Trade High School. She then worked at Fairlawn Nursing Home for many years. She also was a bookkeeper for the Johnson Brothers Woodworking Co. in Leominster. She was a member of the Fitchburg Seventh-Day Adventist Church, where she served as deaconess and assistant treasurer for many years. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her son, William W. Johnson Jr. and his wife, Barbara M. Johnson, of Lunenburg; a sister, Minnie Leggett of Asbury Park, N.J.; three grandsons; two granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Her husband of 53 years, William W. Johnson Sr., died in 1987. A daughter, Margaret R. Niemi, died in 1995; a sister, Rose Howe, and a brother, Joseph Howe, also predeceased her. JOHNSON -- On Oct. 30, Mary (Rowe) Johnson, 90, of Leominster. A graveside service will be held Saturday, Nov. 8, at 2 p.m. in Evergreen Cemetery, Leominster. There are no calling hours. The Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West St., is directing arrangements.
