Mary J. Owens New Hartford/Whitesboro Mary J. Owens, 81, of New Hartford and formerly of Whitesboro, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 4, 2012, at Faxton-St. Lukes Health Care, surrounded by the love and support of her family. She was born on May 28, 1931, in Rockford, Illinois, a daughter of the late Bernard and Bessie (Sgro) Licciardi. Mary was employed at one time with the Yahnundasis Golf and Country Club, retiring after many years of dedicated service. Mary was an avid card player who also enjoyed sewing and was known as an excellent seamstress. She was a loving mother and care giver who was always at her happiest when she was surrounded by her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Linda Jean Meana DiPiero, of Tampa, FL, Debbie Gordon and her husband, Lance, of New Hartford, Cindy Mathews and her husband, Kevin, of Whitesboro, Valerie Johnson and her husband, David, of Sauquoit, and Jeffery Owens, of Utica. She also leaves 10 grandchildren, Andrew DiPiero, Lindsey, Taylor, Justin and Ryan Gordon, Jason Gordon and his wife, Jessie, Brittney King, Devin Mathews and Mitchell and Luke Johnson; also three great-grandchildren, Sean Abraham and Vincent and Alicia Paiz. Mary also leaves three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Rose Tierney and her husband, David, of FL, Patricia Davies and her husband, William, of Marcy, and Peachy Circelli, of Whitesboro. She was predeceased by a brother, Sam Licciardi, and two sisters, Mae Harden and Betty LaForest. The family wishes to offer a very special thank you to the Nurses of the 6th floor at Faxton-St. Lukes Health Care, especially Korrinn Chaffey, Cindy and Mayae, and also a very special thank you to Dr. Razia and Dr. Lawrence for the wonderful care complemented by true compassion that was given to Mary during her illness. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, Forty Main St., Whitesboro, with the Rev. Abe Esper officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday (today) from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please consider United Cerebral Palsy, 1020 Mary St., Utica, NY 13501, in her memory; this was an organization that was very near and dear to Mary because of the wonderful care that her son, Jeffery, is receiving from this great organization.
