BARRETT, Mary Gertrude On December 2, 2011 Mary Gertrude Barrett in Victoria General Hospital following a stroke; beloved wife and best friend of retired Victoria journalist, Lloyd Andrew Barrett. Mary is predeceased by her son, John and sister, Noreen Mc Clean. She will be greatly missed by her niece, Edith Legace and nephew Richard Mc Clean of Ontario, together with several great nieces and nephews in Winnipeg, Manitoba, as well as Ottawa, Kingston, London and Toronto, Ontario. Mary will also be sadly missed by brother and sister in law, Brian & Carole Barrett of Sidney, BC as well as by Shirley Barrett Gillespie of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Mary will be remembered as a superb chef, a gracious hostess and loyal friend. The Barrett family wishes to thank the staff of the Peninsula private seniors' residence in Sidney for their kindness to Mary during her short but happy stay there. The family is also appreciative of the compassionate care extended to Mary in her final hours by staff of the Victoria General Hospital. In respect of Mary's wishes, there will be no visitation.
