MT. HOLLY, N.J. - Mary Evelyn "Evie" Morris, of Mt. Holly, passed away July 16th at the Alterra Nursing Home in Westampton. She was 81. Born in Augusta, Ga., she was a resident of Mt. Holly for the past 53 years. Evie had worked in various positions for the Mt. Holly School District. She was a parishioner of the Sacred Heart Church in Mt. Holly, where she was active with the church choir and the Altar Rosary Society. She was also a former member of the GFWC Women's League of Mt. Holly, the USAF Officers Wives Club, and the Scared Heart PTA. Evie enjoyed gardening and spending time on the beach. Wife of the late Paul J. Morris, Sr. and grandmother of the late Kelly Welch, she is survived by her three children, daughter Patricia Welch of Manchester, N.H., son Paul J. Morris, Jr. of Mt. Holly, and son John T. Morris and his wife Joanne of Westampton. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Kevin Welch, John Morris, Jr., Julianne Morris, and Jamie Ann Morris; and by her sisters, Patricia Markwalter and Barbara Skinner, both of Augusta, Ga. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 20th at 11 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church, 260 High St., Mt. Holly. Interment will follow in the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. Friends may visit with the family on Friday morning from 9:30-11 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Samaritan Hospice, 5 Eves Drive, Suite 300, Marlton, N.J. or to the Alzheimer's Association, 100 N. 17th St., 2nd Floor, Philadelphia, Pa. 19103.
