Martha Elizabeth <br/> Henderson Smith <br/> GREENVILLE, SC --> Martha Elizabeth Henderson Smith GREENVILLE, SC-- Martha Elizabeth Henderson Smith, 92, of Greenville died January 24, 2015 at National HealthCare on Boiling Springs Road after a lengthy illness. Born December 26, 1922, she was the daughter of Oscar Mann Henderson and Mary Elizabeth Edwards Carpenter Henderson Ertzberger and widow of James Wilber Smith. She was a member of Berea Friendship United Methodist Church where she was a long time member of the Ruth Bible Sunday School Class, Morning Circle and Berea Friendship Quilters. She is survived by her children: Rebecca Elizabeth Smith Philpot (I. Henry Philpot, Jr.), James W. Smith, Jr., Ted D. Smith (Wanda Huskey Smith) all of Greenville, and Kimberly Lisa Smith Cole (Alfred J. Cole, Jr.) of Atlanta, Georgia. Grandchildren: Irvin H. Philpot, III (Paula); Elizabeth H. Philpot, Joseph S. Philpot (Heather), Eric H. Philpot (Lorri), Bradley J. Smith, Steven D. Smith (Paige), A. Taylor Smith, S. Corbin Smith, Alfred J. Cole, III 'AJ' and Susannah S. Cole. Great-grandchildren: Irvin H. IV 'Bo', Kirby-Annah, Hope Ellen, PollyRose, SamcieJoe, Paul Henry 'Bubba', Eliza Pearl, Eric H., Jr. 'Ric', Mary, Haleigh and Claire Philpot; Caroline, Carlie, Reagan, Addison, Sarah Campbell and Gray Smith. In addition to her husband she was predeceased in death by her son Fred Donald Smith, daughter-in-law Alice Jones Smith and an infant great-granddaughter Josie Leigh Philpot. She was also predeceased in death by the following brothers and sisters: Fred David Carpenter, Lee Mann Henderson, Robert O. Henderson, Kathleen Henderson Greer, Edith Henderson Gentry and Nan Henderson Frady. The funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Berea Friendship United Methodist Church with Dr. David A. Brown officiating. The family will receive friends in the fellowship Hall of the church from 1:00 to 2:15 PM prior to the service. A private entombment will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be grandsons Irvin H. Philpot, III, Joseph S. Philpot, Eric H. Philpot, Steven D. Smith, Bradley J. Smith, Alfred J. Cole, III, A. Taylor Smith and great-grandson Irvin H. Philpot, IV.
