Marie Daughtry Williams Marie Daughtry Williams, 83, died Saturday, June 18, 2005. The service will be at 11 a.m. EDT Tuesday at Saint Paul's United Methodist Church, with burial at Roselawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. EDT today at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, Timberlane Road Chapel (850-893-4177).Memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32308. Marie was born in Elgin, Texas, to Bryant and Jettie Daughtry. She married Hugh Williams in San Antonio at the end of World War II and moved to Tallahassee in 1946. She raised three boys and worked as a realtor for Wise Realty before buying Marpan Supply Co. with her husband in 1967.She was the office manager. She was a hard worker, great partner and key to the success of the business. She retired in 1987. She loved her river house in St. Marks and enjoyed taking friends and family on a sunset cruise to the Lighthouse aboard her favorite boat, a Chris Craft named "Branch Office." She had a quick wit and loved to laugh.She was a great cook and wrote a cookbook for her children that she laced with a pinch of her humor. She enjoyed arranging flowers and could name many of Tallahassee's camellias. She was an avid sports fan and especially loved Florida State University football. She enjoyed making ceramic gifts adorned with her code name "G.G." She is survived by three sons, Bud Williams (and wife Fran and their two children, Elizabeth Williams and Hugh Williams) of Lakeland, Kim Williams (and wife Mayda and their four children, Matthew Williams, Johanna Williams, Andrew Williams and Tracey Cohen, and her husband, Jeremy) of Tallahassee and Gil Williams of Tampa; a sister Verna Trainer of San Antonio; three sisters-in-law, Nita Ott of Osyka, Miss., and Leona Daughtry and Bena Daughtry, both of of Elgin, Texas; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh E. Williams Jr. A special thank you to her caregiver, Mary Norton.
