Lucile M. Thompson, 91, Springfield, passed away November 7, 2006, in the Manor at Elifindale. She was born August 14, 1915, in Nixa, Missouri, to William Alexander and Dona Faught Meadows. Lucile traveled with her her husband, an Army Chaplain, and lived in Hokkaido, Japan, and Poitiers (Vienne), France, as well as many Army posts in the United States. She was active in helping organize Women of the Chapel in overseas locations. She was a former member of Nixa Christian Church, Covenant Presbyterian Church, Ozark Presbyterian Church in Arkansas, and First and Calvary Presbyterian Church, where she was an elder and trustee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Leslie A. Thompson; her parents; and two sisters, Margaret Hilda Duvall and an infant. She is survived by a daughter, Lucianna Janet Twitchell, of Springfield, who had been her caregiver since her stroke in October 2000. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, November 13, 2006, in First and Calvary Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Alf Halvorson officiating under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 9 a.m. Monday in Springfield National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First and Calvary Presbyterian Church, 820 Cherry, Springfield, MO 65806.
