(Glowacki) Nolan April 24, 2007 Life is like a dance. When you dance, your purpose is not to arrive at a certain place on the floor, but rather to enjoy each step along the way. Louise Marie (Glowacki) Nolan lived from September 4, 1918 until April 24, 2007. Louise held a fighting spirit; born two months early at home in Oliphant, PA to Stanislaw and Bernislava Glowacki, she survived when her mother died in the 1918 Flu Pandemic. Her spirit inspired all as she persevered through the journey of life. Although now predeceased, Louise also had five brothers and sisters, Bernard, Zigmond, John, Lucille, and Helena. Louise spent most of her young life in Syracuse, and she graduated from Vocational High School. She married Thomas Anthony Nolan in 1940, and they spent 58 years together. She and Tom enjoyed their summers at their camp in Lakeport, NY on Oneida Lake. They moved to New Mexico in 1975 where Louise found her love of hot air balloons, Old Town Albuquerque, and warm, dry weather. Throughout her life, Louise was an avid reader and game player; she especially liked card games with her "lunch bunch", Bingo and playing the lottery and pull tabs which earned her the nickname "Lucky Lou." In good weather, she got pleasure from fishing, especially with her buddy, Bob O'Donnell. She was active in several groups including the Philathea Prayer group at the First United Church of East Syracuse, the American Legion in East Syracuse, the Simon-Parise Post of the VFW, and the Golden Agers Group in Minoa. Louise was a communicant of St. Mary's in Minoa. Louise is survived by her three daughters and one son, Carol Chen of Kokomo, Indiana, Lorraine Flint of San Diego, California, Susan Holburn of Minoa, NY, and Michael Glowan of Denver, Colorado. Louise also had a daughter, Helen Darwish, who passed in 1998. She has 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She will be missed greatly by her sisters-in-law, Anna Mastroleo and Helen Luongo, and numerous other relatives and friends. Funeral Arrangements are being handled by Forani and Cline Funeral Home, 206 Kinne St. in East Syracuse. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The funeral will be held on Saturday at St. Matthew's Church at 9 a.m. Donations may be sent to the William P. Havener Memorial Fund in honor of Louise Nolan, checks payable to VFW Post 9596, 6996 E. Taft Rd., East Syracuse, NY 13057.
