Louise Holt Smith, 85, of Taylorsville, died Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, at Signature Healthcare of Spencer County. The daughter of the late Isaac Merritt and Mary Lee Hill Holt, she was a native of Botland in Nelson County, and was reared in Seatonville in Jefferson County. She was the widow of the late John William "J.W." Smith, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Taylorsville. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Joe Holt, Chester Holt, M.F. Holt, Clifford Holt, Charles Holt, George Holt and Isaac Holt; and her sisters, Geneva Sheeley and Wanda Snellen. Survivors include her sons, John William "Billy" Smith III and his wife, Joann of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Kevin Smith and his wife, Dee, of Mount Eden; her daughters, Shelia Tinsley and her husband, Bill, of Taylorsville, Sharon Stodghill and her husband, Mike, of Southville, Janet Williamson and her husband, Bruce, of Shelbyville, Michelle Smith of Louisville, and Cheryl Lynn Smith of Taylorsville; her sister, Meritlee "Toodles" Burkhead of Mesa, Arizona; and her 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Taylorsville. Interment will be in the Valley Cemetery at Taylorsville. Visitation will be from 1 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
