Linda Smith, age 64, of Freeport, Fla. passed away Sept. 22, 2008, in Destin, Fla. She was born on Sept. 18, 1944, in Cleveland to Arnell and Anne Belle Havens Thompson. Mrs. Smith was a resident of Freeport for the past 33 years, moving from Ohio. She was Baptist by faith and attended the South Walton First Baptist Church. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Smith; two brothers, Bruce and Bob Thompson; and two sisters Vesta Hamerick and Bernice Hill. Mrs. Smith is survived by her son, Charles Smith and Jewel Wilson of Freeport; daughter, Kim Wesley and husband Sam of Seagrove Beach, Fla.; three brothers, Jim Thompson and wife Ruth of Ohio, John Thompson and wife Barbara of Ohio, and Max Thompson of West Virginia; four sisters, Elda Clutter and husband Leon of West Virginia, Pauline Kline and husband Tom of Freeport, Fla., JoAnne Gingerich and husband Ron, and Wanda Weigert, all of Ohio; and four grandchildren, Houston Wesley, Trent Short, and Kevin and Chasity Wilson. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Clary-Glenn Freeport Chapel Funeral Home with Kathy Ault and Dr. Walt Campbell officiating. Floral arrangements are being accepted.
