Stanford, CT - Leila Mae Green Nelson, 58, died Thursday, March 6, 2003 at Stanford Hospital in Connecticut after a short illness. Mrs. Nelson was a Garnett, SC native. She lived in Stanford, CT for the past 49 years. She attended the public schools there and was a faithful member of Bethel AME Church. She was a private duty nurse and was well loved and respected by her many patients, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Nelson, Sr. and her grandparents, Manny and Lelia Jackson of Gannett, SC. Survivors: three sons, Curtis Nelson, Jr., Keith Nelson, and Kareem Nelson, all of Stanford, CT; daughter, Mia Nelson of Stanford, CT; mother Lillie Green Steadman of Stanford, CT father, Mack Green of Garnett, SC; sister, Annie L. Green of Bridgeport, CT; brother, Clarence Patterson of Stanford, CT; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews; uncle, Elder Johnnie Lee Jackson of Ridgeland, SC; cousins, Margaret Lovett, Stella Hines Storms, Willie Mae Lovett Major, Rosa Lee Gordon, all of Savannah; and other relatives and friends. Funeral Services: 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, March 12 at Bethel AME Church in Stanford, CT. Baker Funeral Home in Norwalk, CT is in charge. Burial: Woodlawn Cemetery in Stanford, CT.
