Lee was born in Brooklyn, NY on June 18, 1911 and was raised in Chicago, IL. Lee was the ultimate doer. Her volunteer efforts over the years helped shape Nyack Hospital into what it is today. She restructured the volunteer guilds and auxiliaries, originated the Kirmess fund raisers, founded and ran the Dutch Treat Thrift shop, and conceived and designed the Family Waiting Room. She was also a long time Board member at Rockland Country Day School. While working so hard for her community, she also found the time to complete her Bachelor's degree at Empire State College in 1980 at the age of 69. Lee was predeceased by Jerry, her husband of 71 years, in 2007. She is survived by her children, Ron Johnson of Suffern and Jill Tanz of Chicago, their spouses Sue-Ellen and Bob, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.A graveside service will be held on Sunday, August 4 at 11:00 am at Oak Hill Cemetery, 140 N. Highland Ave., Nyack, NY. The family will be observing Shiva after the service at the home of Ron and Sue-Ellen Johnson in Suffern. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Lee's memory to Nyack Hospital or United Hospice of Rockland.
