CLARK, Laura (nee Severs) Passed away peacefully on January 9th, 2007, at the Royal Jubilee Hospital at the age of 85. Laura was born in Victoria on September 7, 1921, the only daughter of Frances and George Severs. She attended Quadra Elementary and Victoria High School, until a fateful day in June when she skipped school to go and pick berries. She met Jack Clark in a strawberry field in Saanich, and they were married in 1941. For a few years they lived up island at Mesachie Lake where Jack was employed in the lumber industry. Happily, they were able to return to Victoria in 1948 where they raised three daughters. After Jack's retirement in 1982, they enjoyed traveling, especially to England. Laura spent many happy years in her family's historical home on the hill" and was proud of her heritage as a True Victorian". Laura was widowed on January 1, 2001 and her deteriorating health slowly robbed her of her mobility and independence. However, it did not dim her determination or her sense of humour. She was a lady of spirited opinions, freely expressed, and she will be sadly missed by her friends, neighbours and family. Laura is survived by her daughters, her sons-in-law and her grandchildren: Katherine and Murray Edwards; Sylvia, Jim, Dylan and Jeffrey Leard; and Nancy, Jim, Katelyn and Dana Neily. She is also survived by her English cousin, Joyce Wilkinson and five nieces, the daughters of her late brother Harold Severs and her sister-in-law, Pat. Special thanks to Dr. Peter Meyer and Betty Severs. We are especially grateful to Rosita Fernandez for her compassionate care and support.
