On March 20, 2012, at 1:30 in the morning, Kevin Brian Clark, age 54, gently passed away in the intensive care unit of the Northeast Georgia Medical Center, surrounded by family and friends.Kevin was born on Feb. 16, 1958, and raised in Flowery Branch. In 1976, he graduated from Robert W. Johnson High School and then studied two years at Lanier Technical College before taking a job with Northern Telecom in Stone Mountain. On April 14, 1984, he married his wife, Connie Ann Williams, with whom he had two children: a son in 1988 and a daughter in 1991. He was a man of tremendous resource and precocious talent. While he was never able to pursue his dream of becoming an engineer, he possessed a practical and creative genius seldom found in the profession. At age 15, he rebuilt from the ground up a dilapidated 1965 Mustang, the first car he ever owned. At 35, he and four of his co-workers at Northern Telecom were given the President's Award for developing a robotic arm used to assemble microchips. He was the only non-engineer on the team. At 36, he started his own general contracting business, which he ran until his passing.A self-taught electrician and wood craftsman, Kevin also exhibited over his lifetime an exceptional capacity for acquiring new skill sets and applying them to solve new and complex problems. Not only this, he was also an enthusiast of history and physical science and, with his capacious memory, continually surprised his friends and family with the depth and breadth of his knowledge. Over the years, many of his friends, family and co-workers have remarked that he was one of, if not the, smartest man they knew.However, beyond his skills, knowledge and accomplishments, Kevin was, most importantly, an ever-faithful son, caring brother, devoted husband and a loving and stalwart father. Never one to be an onlooker, he remained very involved in the life of his family and his community.His death is deeply grieved.He is survived by his wife, Connie Clark; son, Eric Clark; daughter, Katie Clark; parents, Buster and Bonnie Clark; and sister, Cheryl Rothschild.A visitation will be held at Little-Davenport Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 21, from 4-8 p.m., and his memorial service will take place the following day at Poplar Springs Baptist Church at 3 p.m.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to 7 Bridges to Recovery Ministry.Those wishing to send online condolences may do so at www.littledavenport.com.Little & Davenport Funeral Home, 355 Dawsonville Highway SW, Gainesville, GA 30501 is in charge of arrangements.
