Old Lyme - Kenneth "Kenny" John Lee, 48, died unexpectedly Friday, April 26, 2013, at his home in Old Lyme.He was born on Aug. 19, 1964, in Hartford, to Thomas and Ellen Lee. Kenny was raised along with his two brothers and two sisters in Enfield, before relocating to Old Saybrook, where he graduated from Old Saybrook Senior High School, class of 1982.Kenny spent many memorable summers at Old Lyme Shores with his family and extended family, the Wardwells; eventually buying a house there. He was employed for many years at Stop & Shop, where he met Vera Almeida, his future wife, and together, they raised two beautiful boys, Brandon and Alex.He was an avid sports fan and loved UConn basketball and the Boston Red Sox, but by far his favorite team was the Minnesota Vikings. He traveled with friends several times to Minnesota to see the games in person and loved his football falls, where he and the other Vikings fans would gather at Old Lyme Tavern to view every game. He loved his family immensely and had the biggest heart. He was the best father to his boys, the most awesome brother anyone could ask for, and a trusted and loyal friend to many.Besides Vera, Brandon, and Alex, Kenny is survived by his parents, Tom and Ellen Lee of Old Saybrook; sister Kathy and Ed Russell of Suffield; sister Karen Houston of Windsor; brother Kevin and Barbara Lee of East Hartford; and brother Kerry and Laura Lee of Scotland. He also leaves his loving nieces and nephews, Kevin Russell, Thomas Russell, Katy Walpole, Casey Menard, Candice Wakefield, Kenzy York, John Lee; and grand-nieces and -nephews, Ellie York, Harper Ellen Walpole, Kieva Angelina Grace Russell, and Judah Thomas Russell.Friends and family will be receiving guests from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at the Swan Funeral Home in Old Saybrook. The funeral will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 3, at Christ The King Roman Catholic Church, 1 McCurdy Road, Old Lyme.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Brandon and Alex Lee Educational Fund in care of Liberty Bank.
