WARDNER Joyce M. (nee Henderson) 1928 - 2006 Joyce Wardner, beloved wife of fifty-six years of George Wardner, High River, passed away at High River on July 13, 2006. She leaves to mourn, her husband George; one son Ronald G. Wardner and wife Joan, Red Deer, and their daughters, Amanda, Angela, Amy, Lyndsy and Tina; one daughter Launa, her husband Donald Gordon, Rocky Mountain House, and their sons, Tyler and Cody; her sister Vyohne Steedman, Salmon Arm; sister-in-law Helen Schumacher, Wetaskiwin; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her son Lory in 1952; her brother George in 1964; her mother Marguerite in 1968; and her father George in 1978. Raised in the Ponoka/Rimbey area she attended school at Wilmot and Ponoka. She took her nurses training at Ponoka and Red Deer before accepting a job at Provost Municipal Hospital in 1947 where she met her husband. After marriage in 1950 she traveled with her husband (in the oil industry), covering western Manitoba, eastern Saskatchewan and Alberta. Since her husband's retirement in 1983 they have lived in the High River area. A Memorial Service will be held at SNODGRASS FUNERAL CHAPEL, High River on Tuesday, July 18 at 2:00 p.m., Mr. R.W. Slocombe officiating. In lieu of flowers, tributes may be directed to the High River Hospital Foundation, 560 - 9 Avenue S.W., High River, T1V 1B3.
