FLANAGAN Joseph Edward Noel died peacefully after a short illness on March 23, 2004. Ed was born on December 25, 1925 in Oak Bay, B.C. He is survived by his loving wife, Janet (Hall), Oak Bay High School sweethearts, and married for 52 years.He is also survived by his daughter, Linda of Port Hardy and four sons, Martin, of Edmonton, and his children, Erin, Keira and Bryn, Peter (Daphne) and their children, Chloaye and Tatomme, of Peachland; Eric (Dolores) and their sons, Gabriel and Adrian; Colin (Angela) and their children, Mariel and Ian of Edmonton. Ed was predeceased by his brother, Dr. Richard Flanagan and is survived by his sister, Mary Cleveland (Don) in Winnipeg; and sister-in-law, Mary Flanagan and nine nieces and nephews. Following high school graduation, Ed enlisted in the Canadian Army and served Canada overseas until 1945 and then worked for the Provincial Architects Branch until 1956. Ed worked for the Department of National Defence at Esquimalt and retired in 1987 as Chief Draftsman. He was elected to Oak Bay Council in 1982, serving until 1990. He sang with the Arion Male Voice Choir and served as President. Ed was an actively involved father during his children's growing years with their education and sports. He will also be missed by many good friends. Visitation will take place at MCCALL BROS. CHAPEL, Vancouver & Johnson Streets, on Wednesday, March 24, 2004 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Memorial Mass to be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 2060 Haultain on Thursday, March 25, 2004 at 12:10 pm, Father Peter Ho officiating. Contributions to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of B.C., Suite 107, 1001 Cloverdale Avenue, Victoria, B.C., V8X 4C9 would be appreciated.
