WILLIAMS, John Wesley After an eight-year gallant and courageous battle with cancer, John passed away at home in Orleans, Ontario, with his wife at his side on Wednesday, December 25, 2002 at the age of 64. He is predeceased by his parents, Earnest Edward and Johanna "Nana" Williams. His memory will be cherished and honoured by his devoted wife of 38 years, Louise, and his children, Dwight of Orleans, David (Tina) of Winchester and their children Joseph, Ashley and Nicholas; Dawn Harrison (Chris) of Orleans and their daughter Grace; his sister Judy Squire (Wayne) and their children, Robb, Todd and Brett; his aunt Alice Voiken and his uncle George Williams (Joyce). John was born on August 24, 1938 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to Earnest and Johanna. In 1949, they moved to the Circle W family farm in Elbow, Saskatchewan where he grew up. John obtained his degree in Arts and Sciences and BA in Commerce at the University of Saskatchewan in 1961, and subsequently settled in Regina, working in several positions before meeting and marrying Louise in 1964. He then joined what is now Human Resources Development Canada, working in a variety of capacities in several cities and towns across the Canadian prairies with that department over the next thirty years. John and Louise also managed to raise their children Dwight, David and Dawn, settling once more in Regina for twelve years before being transferred to Ottawa in 1985, where they have stayed ever since. John retired from federal employment in 1996, and spent the next eight years counselling his children in their endeavours, traveling, gardening and helping to raise his grandchildren, in spite of the difficulties raised by his fight with what became metastatic renal cell cancer during those years. His hobbies included curling, bridge, hockey and baseball. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 632 (Orleans) for many years and also volunteered for various organizations. His memory remains beloved by his surviving family, and he will be missed. We would like to thank the Ottawa Fire and Paramedic Services, the Ottawa Hospital's Neurology, Oncology, Radiology and ICU departments' staff and the Victorian Order of Nurses for their kind efforts in helping John in his efforts to live well during his final five months and offer special thanks to Owen and Dianne, Ron and Margaret and Bob and Brenda for their support. Relatives and friends will be received at Heritage Funeral Home, 2871 St. Joseph Blvd., Orleans, Ontario on Monday, December 30, 2002 as of 1:30 p.m. A memorial service will follow in the chapel at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the if (!aa) var aa = { iframes : new Array(), random : function() { return Math.round(Math.random() * 10000000000); }, pageNum : Math.round(Math.random() * 10000000000), refresh : function(iframeId) { if (typeof(iframeId) != 'undefined') { var iframe = document.getElementById(iframeId); if (iframe) { iframe.name = iframeId; var oldSrc = iframe.src || iframe.getAttribute('data-src'); var newSrc = oldSrc.replace(/misc=[0-9]+/, 'misc=' + aa.random()); if (newSrc !== undefined) { var newFrame = iframe.cloneNode(true); newFrame.src = newSrc; iframe.parentNode.replaceChild(newFrame, iframe); } } } else { for (var i in this.iframes) this.refresh(this.iframes[i]); } } }; //no AJAX refresh for inline ads aa.adServer = 'http://media2.legacy.com/'; aa.target = ''+ '/3.0'+ '/5306.1'+ '/1400071'+ '/0'+ '/-1/size=30x1'+ '/adtech;'+ 'alias=legacy.ottawacitizen.lifestory.30x1.1.1;'+ 'target=_blank;'+ 'key=' + escape('CCSONTARIO') + ';'+ 'kvopenextapp=' + escape('1') +';'+ 'kvcobrand=' + escape('ottawacitizen') +';'+ 'kvpersonid=' + escape('157406143') +';'+ 'sub1=' + escape('Canadian Cancer Society') + ';'+ 'sub2=' + escape('https://secure2.convio.net/cco/site/SPageServer?pagename=on_donationapi_direct&donform=permem&s_src=Legacy.com&s_subsrc=CLIO&utm_source=Legacy.com&utm_content=CLIO&utm_campaign=DONATIONS_ON') + ';'; if (typeof aa !== 'undefined' && typeof aa.kvscreenwidth !== 'undefined') aa.target += 'kvscreenwidth=' + escape(aa.kvscreenwidth()) + ';'; if (typeof aa !== 'undefined' && typeof aa.criteo !== 'undefined') aa.target += aa.criteo; aa.src = aa.adServer + 'addyn' + aa.target + 'grp=' + aa.pageNum +';misc=' + aa.random(); document.write("<div data-src='" + aa.src + "\' id='443c0b673f54444fa03eaade8e8be306' class='scriptHolder' style='display:inline;'><\/div>"); Canadian Cancer Society (613) 723-1744, or Canadian Diabetes Association (613) 521-1902 would be most appreciated by the family.
