WILLIAMS John V., 84, of Paterson, NJ. He departed this life on Saturday, November 1, 2008. Mr. Williams was employed in the Shoe Industry by Universal Manufacturing Co., in Paterson; later employed by Ford Motor Co. in Mahwah until its closing in 1989; he also worked for the Board of Education of Montvale, NJ where he progressed to the Head Custodian. He was a member of Williams Chapel A.M.E. Zion in Passaic, NJ for over 25 years, where he served as a Steward, Trustee, the Men of Varick Ministry. He was a lifetime Lay Council member of Jersey City District, Council and a Patron member of (WHOSM) Women's Home and Overseas Missionary Society. He was known in the NJ Community as a Poet and Orator. He received the Paul Lawrence Dunbar Award from the City of Paterson this past January 2008. He was the beloved husband of Beatrice (Brown) Williams; the son of the late Kelly and Dillie Williams; the brother of the late Kelly and Alvest Williams, Rose Beckford and Gladys Bailey. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and neighbors. Services: Friday, November 7, 2008 at 11 AM at the Williams Chapel A.M.E.
