RAFTER John P., 78 of Hawthorne, entered peacefully into eternal life on Saturday, Sept 11, 2010 at his residence. Born May 10, 1932 to the late John P. Rafter and Catherine (nee: Corcoran), in Lyndhurst he was raised in Hoboken. John was a proud graduate of St. Peter's College where he obtained his BS in Accounting. He then graduated from the US Army Infantry School as a Second Lieutenant, while serving in the Army Reserves. He was also a member of the ROTC Program while in school. In addition to his BS in Accounting, he attained an MBA in Taxation from Pace University, APC in Finance from NYU and was an accredited CPA in New Jersey and New York. He retired as Vice President of Finance and Administration of Cookson Pigments, Inc. Prior to this John was President of John P. Rafter and Assoc (1982-1984), Chief Financial Officer of the Options Group (1981-1982), Vice President - Controller of Paine, Webber, Jackson & Curtis, Inc. (1978-1981) and Vice President of Accounting for Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith, Inc. (1973-1978). His extensive corporate career's lead him to member ship in the Financial Management Division of Securities Industry Association where he served as President, member of the board of directors and as member of the Advisory Board. In addition, he was a member of the Financial Executives Institute, American Institute of CPA's, New Jersey & New York CPA Societies and the National Association of Accountants. He is the cherished father of Kathleen Rafter, John Rafter and Jean Rafter-Shevlin. Loving grandfather of Ryan Shevlin. Beloved brother of Joseph Rafter and his wife Joan. Treasured grand uncle of Brendan and Casey Rafter. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Friday, Sept 17th at 9 AM from the Earl F. Bosworth Funeral Home, 311 Willow Ave., Hoboken. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM. at Our Lady of Grace Church, Hoboken. Interment will follow at Christ the King Cemetery, Franklin Lakes, NJ. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept 16th from 4 PM to 8 PM
