John Hagen Kuhl, age 65, of the Lickskillet Community in North Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at his home. A native of Germany, he was a planning engineer with the Florida DOT for 31 years, until his retirement. He then worked with URS Corporation. John then found his home in Burnsville, North Carolina. He loved his son, Hagen and was so proud of him and his grandson, Luke. He loved and cared for Bobbie's children and grandchildren and took them as his family when he took her as his wife. He loved to work and was a self-made man, never taking a hand out but always willing to help everyone else, loved working outside, getting in firewood, and gardening. He was known for telling jokes, laughing and making others laugh. Surviving are his loving wife of 17 years, Bobbie Kuhl; sons: Hagen John Kuhl and his wife, Melanie of Eagle, CO and Logan Curry and wife, Naomi of DeLand, FL; daughters: Jennifer Sarson and husband, ITC Gary Sarson, US Navy, of Virginia Beach, VA and Angie Luxton of Port Orange, FL; grandchildren: Luke, Kylie, Austin, Alex, Josh, Rachel, Alana and Hannah. Many, many loving friends also survive. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 3rd at the Allen-Summerhill Memorial Chapel in DeLand. The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Oakdale Cemetery.
