Joan Frances (Hamel) Petersonof North Chelmsford, MA NO. CHELMSFORD, MA -- Mrs. Joan Frances (Hamel) Peterson, a lifelong resident of Chelmsford, MA died October 6, 2013 in Texas where she lived with her daughters.Joan was the daughter of the late Raymond A. and Loretta Hamel of Chelmsford, MA and sister to the late Norma Finn of Westford, MA, and Eleanor Welcome of Dracut, MA. She was a graduate of Chelmsford High School with the class of 1952 and was employed by Incon, Inc of Hudson, NH, as QA Inspector, until her retirement in 1999.Joan was married to the late Mr. Robert G. Peterson for 36 years before his death on December 25, 1988. They were communicants of St. John the Evangelist Church in North Chelmsford, MA where they lived and raised their five children. She loved to travel, spend time with family and friends and watch her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow.Joan is survived by five children, Robert and wife Linda Peterson of Raymond, NH, Linda and husband Lawrence Kelly formerly of Chelmsford, MA, Robin Saunders formerly of Pelham, NH, Douglas and wife Joan Peterson of Ayer, MA and Brian Peterson of Deer Lodge,TN. She is also survived by a sister, Ruth Byam of Chelmsford, MA, nine grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren. PETERSON -- Joan F. (Hamel) Peterson of Chelmsford, died Oct. 6, 2013. A Funeral Service will be held Fri., Oct. 25, 2013 at 11 AM at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX ST., CHELMSFORD. Burial in W. Chelmsford Cemetery to follow service.
