Julia ("Jewel") Stinson Pharr White, age 84, of Summerville, S.C., and formerly of Greenville, S.C., died September 20, 2007, at The Presbyterian Home in Summerville. The daughter of Edgar Walker Pharr and Alta Ruth Knox Pharr, she was born in 1922 in Charlotte, N.C. After her father's early death, she received a full scholarship to Erskine College and graduated there in 1943. Mrs. White was the widow of Thomas Bertram White, the widow of Goodlette Peden Taylor, and former wife of Robert Calvin Brownlee III. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her older sister, Charlotte Walker Pharr Byrd. She is survived by her children, Eleanor Brownlee Koets and husband, Don, of Summerville, S.C., Susan Walker Brownlee of Somerset, N.J., James Goodlette Taylor and wife, Lea, of St. Helena's Island, S.C., Thomas Sherwell White and wife, Bonnie, of Winston Salem, N.C., Sally White Fischer and husband, Marty, of Moraga, Calif., and Marjie White Whitney and husband, Lucas, of LaGrange, Ga.; also by 15 grandchildren, Julia and Joseph Koets, Jay, Curtis, Ross, and Edward Taylor, Andy, Emily, and Elizabeth White, Mark, Laura, and Stephanie Fischer, Lucas, Sarah, and Anna Whitney; as well as by nine great-grandchildren; niece, Ashley Byrd Krueger and husband Ken and their three daughters, Kimberly, Trisha, and Meredith and families; and three foreign exchange student children, Ratanawan (Ruth), Anantjai (Andy), and Dhanavad (Dan) Lauhabandhu of Bangkok, Thailand.Before moving to the Presbyterian Home in Summerville, Jewel made her home in Greenville, S.C., for 54 years. She was a devoted member there of St. James Episcopal Church and formerly of the Greenville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church and Trinity Methodist Church. All her life, Jewel lovingly devoted herself to her family and friends, to her church, and to her community.A memorial service will be celebrated in Summerville at The Presbyterian Home Chapel, 201 West 9th North, on Sunday, September 23, 2007, at 2 p.m. A second memorial service will be held in Greenville, S.C., at the Greenville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, 741 Cleveland St., on Monday, September 24, 2007, at 11 a.m. The family will greet friends after the service in the church fellowship hall. Interment will follow on Tuesday, September 25, 2007, at 11 a.m. in the churchyard of Sardis Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, N.C.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Erskine College, (P.O.
