Jessie Mae Hendricks Hayes, 84, of 111 Adams Road, wife of the late Furman R. Hayes, died Monday, April 7, 2003, at Palmetto Baptist Medical Center in Easley. Mrs. Hayes was born in Pickens County. She was the daughter of the late Lem and Rhoda Gray Hendricks. Mrs. Hayes was retired from Sangamo. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church and the Mother's Sunday school class. Surviving are four sons, J.W. Hayes, and his wife, Jean, Franklin Hayes, and his wife, Debra, Winfred Hayes and Freddy Hayes, all of Pickens; four daughters, Mildred McCollum, and her husband, Billy Joe, of Pickens, Barbara Reece, and her husband, Ray, of Cleveland, Sue Dover, and her husband, Jead, of Pickens, and Linda Galloway, and her husband, Clyde, of Pickens. Also surviving are two brothers, Edrew Hendricks, of Seneca, and Morris Hendricks, of Liberty; four sisters, Lois Rogers, of Walhalla, Juanita Higgins, of Iowa, Nell Hendricks, of Central, and Frances Hickey, of Pickens; 21 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hayes was predeceased by her parents; her husband; a son, J.C. Hayes; a sister, Bessie Stubblefield; and two brothers, Cleo Hendricks and Bill Hendricks. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Dillard Memorial Funeral Home, with burial at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.
