Jean-Noel Habel , of Hearst Date of Death: April 27th, 2006 The funeral service for retired Hearst area bushworker Jean-Noël Habel of 1420 Edward St was held May 1, 2006. He died at home April 27 from cancer. Born Nov. 1, 1930 in St-Jean Deschaillons, Que., he came to the Hearst area in 1950. A Lecours Lumber Co. heavy equipment operator until July 1996, he was a person with a sense of humour who was aware of others’ needs. A Knight of Columbus, he was an outdoorsman and member of the Shannon Lake campers association. Predeceased by parents Olivine Lepine and Marcel Habel of Quebec, and a sister Julienne Brousseau of Hearst in 1994, he leaves his wife Denise (née Jolicoeur) Habel of Hearst, daughters Denise (Ronald) Rodrigue and Sylvie (Roger Roy) Habel, all of Hearst, and Diane (Ken Momo) of Rouyn-Noranda, and sons Denis (Marlène) Habel of Hallébourg and Michel (Mona) Habel of Hearst. Also surviving are sisters Gisèle Habel Moreau of Rouyn-Noranda and Lise Habel of Val d’Or, Que., a brother Paul Habel of Rouyn-Noranda, and 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Cremation was done at Hillcrest Crematoriam. Rev. Rémi Lessard directed the service at Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption Cathedral. Commemorative donations may be made to the cancer society.
