ST. AGATHA - Jean G. Michaud, 82, passed away peacefully July 9, 2011, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Nov. 8, 1928, in Fort Kent, son of Donat and Amanda (Chasse) Michaud. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years, Cecile (Chasse) Michaud; and his six children, Danny Michaud of St. Agatha, Jean Louis Michaud of Fort Kent, Betty Kavanaugh of Coquitlam, British Columbia, Gary Michaud of Buckfield, Eddy Michaud of Lewiston, and Cindy St. Jarre of Madawaska. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Don and Robert Michaud, both of St. Agatha; two sisters, Angela Raymond of Sarasota, Fla., and Jean Crabtree of Berlin, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews. Starting at the age of 15, Jean worked for the Department of Transportation for 30 years, then became successfully self employed with his excavation/landscaping business for many more years thereafter. He was a volunteer firefighter and a member of the church choir for many years. Those who knew him will remember his smile, his love of laughter, and endless jokes. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, July 14, at St. Agatha Church, with the Rev. Phil Cyr, celebrant. Contributions may be made in his memory to Edgar J. Paradis Cancer Fund through Northern Maine Medical Center. Friends and relatives can give the family their condolences 9:30 a.m. until time of services, in the back of the church.
