James P. Gunter of Putnam Valley died March 28, 2001 at Cortlandt Nursing Care Center. He was 92 years old. He had worked as a parts inspector for Wright Aeronautical Corporation from 1928 until 1944 when he entered the US Army. He served in the US Army from February, 1945 until November, 1946. He saw duty in the Philippines and Japan, and he attained the rank of Technical Sergeant. In early 1947, he returned to his position at Cimarron Ranch in Putnam Valley where he was a co-owner of the ranch. He was a Charter member of the Putnam Valley Volunteer Ambulance Corps and a Life Associate member of the Putnam Valley Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by his sister, Bernadette and his sister-in-law, Mary Gunter, both of Florida. A nephew, Donald Gunter of New Hampshire also survives. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, April 4 at 2 pm at the HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME, Morrissey Drive, Putnam Valley.
