Jacob W. Keller, former resident of Whitmire, S.C., died on Saturday, June 13, 2009, one day following his 91st birthday. While serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he was awarded four battle stars. He was a member of Whitmire First Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer, having attended the Masters Golf Tournament for more than 50 years. He was predeceased by Mae P. Keller, his wife of 62 years. Surviving is a son, Ted Keller and his wife of Greenville. He is also survived by a grandson, Jeffrey W. Keller; and granddaughter, Stacy Keller Laxton and her husband, Michael Eddie Laxton and their daughter, Lauren Claire, all of Simpsonville. Visitation will be held from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m. on Monday, June 15, 2009, at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. A graveside service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at Evergreen Cemetery, Chester, S.C. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 302 Glenn Street, Whitmire, SC 29178.
