Wareham Irene (Mello) Peterson, 77, of Wareham, died May 27, 2008, at Boston Medical Center. She was the widow of Edwin W. Peterson and a daughter of the late John B. and Mary (Rego) Mello. She was born in Middleboro and had lived in East Providence before moving to Wareham. Mrs. Peterson loved her family and having them near. Survivors include two sons, Michael Edwin Peterson and his wife Donna of Pawtucket, R.I., Mark Richard Peterson and his wife Jean of Riverside, R.I.; a daughter, Nancy Lee deWied of San Antonio; a brother, Lou Mello of Maryland; a sister, Mary Santos of Fairhaven; seven grandchildren; nephews and nieces; and her friend, Leo Gauthier, who was always there when she needed him. Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2008, in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rte. 28), Wareham. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Middleboro.
