->Smith, Irene J.Formerly of Devonshire Dr. in Elmira Heights, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Bethany Manor after a brief illness. Irene was born in Binghamton, NY on May 11, 1923, a daughter of the late John and Catherine Donnalcki Kolba. She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene R. Smith, in 1995 and her beloved son, Gary, in 1948. Irene is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Sherry & John Gibbon II of Lyons, NY, Lorraine & Mark Lambert Jr. of Millport, NY; grandchildren: Michelle (Lorenzo) Fabiani, Kimberly Verstringhe, Mark (Lisa) Lambert III and Jennifer (Charles) Carter; great grandchildren: Zachary, Alexis, Brayden, Gino, Nicholas and Ryan; and several nieces and nephews. Irene was an administrative secretary for the I.B.E.W. in Elmira, NY until her retirement. She loved gardening, took great pride in caring for her home and donating to many charities. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 S. Main St., Horseheads, NY, on Saturday, January 14, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Her Funeral Service will take place at the Funeral Home at the conclusion of Calling Hours. Internment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
