Cooley, Hubert ThomasApril 16, 1930 - Sept. 9, 2009Hubert Thomas Cooley, 79, of Bradenton, formerly of Jackson, Miss., died Sept. 9, 2009.Visitation will be a gathering of family and friends on Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Brown and Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory, Bradenton. A celebration of life will be from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Cooley home. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Doris of Bradenton; son Dennis of Bradenton; and daughter, Gwen of Bradenton.He attended school at French Camp Academy in Mississippi, joined the Army at the age of 22 and was stationed at Fort Jackson, S.C. Tom was a Master Mason at the Grand Lodge of Mississippi for 50 years. He worked as a mold maker at Knox Glass for many years.In 1955, he married Doris Martin and moved to Bradenton to work for Tropicana Glass Plant. In 1965, he became supervisor of the mold shop and retired in 1983. In 1984, he was one of the founders of Staff Leasing Inc. By 1991, the business was ranked in the Inc. 500. The business sold in 1993 and he retired again. He enjoyed golf and was a member of the Men's League at the River Club and Senior Golfers of America. He loved traveling and being in the mountains. He was predeceased by his son Steve.Other survivors include son-in-law Trey; daughter-in-law Amy; and seven grandchildren, Mallory, Stevie, Charlie, Becky, Wayne, Caroline and Thomas.
