Helen McGill, 97, Englewood, died Oct. 17, 2003. She was born Jan. 29, 1906, in Charleston, Ill., and came to Englewood from there 30 years ago. She was a police officer for 29 years in the Chicago Police Department and was a member of Suncoast Humane Society and the Democratic Women's Club, both in Englewood. Survivors include a sister, Virginia Ryan of Yucalpa, Calif.; and two special friends, Ernestine Smarth and Millie Ortega, both of Englewood. Memorial services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Lemon Bay Funeral Home, Englewood Chapel.
