LAURENS, SC-- Helen B. Davis, 85, of Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center and formerly of 111 Floyd Circle in Spartanburg, died Sunday, February 11, 2007 at Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center following a period of declining health.Born in Laurens, she was the daughter of the late William Murphy and Mary Burts Bolt. A graduate of Laurens High School and Limestone College, she pioneered in Baptist Student Union work, serving as Citywide Director for the colleges in Spartanburg for sixteen years. She later served as Church and Pastor's Secretary at Southside Baptist Church in Spartanburg for 25 years before her retirement in 1997. She was a member at Southside since 1957 where she served as Church Clerk for 32 years and Church Historian. She was active in the work of the State Baptist Convention, serving a five year term on the Executive Committee and as Recording Secretary of the Convention in 1993. She also served two terms on the Board of Visitors of the Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center.Helen was predeceased by her husband, Charles B. Davis, and a brother, Charles M. Bolt. Surviving are a sister, Nancy B. Robertson, of Roanoke, VA; a brother, John W. Bolt, and wife, Betty, of Greenville; a sister-in-law, Marlene (Jo) L. Bolt, of Fort Lauderdale, FL; five nephews and three nieces.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2007 at 11:00 AM in the Rasor Chapel at the Martha Franks Retirement Center conducted by Dr. Benjamin Littlejohn, Jr., Rev. David Blanton and Dr. Russell Dean. Burial will follow in the Laurens City Cemetery.
