BANGOR - Guy "Skip" Furbush II, 79, passed away peacefully in his sleep June 6, 2008. Guy was born in New Jersey. He served four years in the U.S. Army. Serving his country during the Korean War, he spent time in Korea, Germany and Japan. Upon his return, he attended Cornell University. Guy "Skip" was also an avid runner. Of the numerous races he completed, the New York City Marathon several times, Big Sur in California and 18-mile LBI in New Jersey, he always finished in the top of his age group. Guy retired and returned to Maine to be surrounded by the nature he loved. He honored the calmness of his surroundings in his paintings, whose subjects often included the serene water scenes, the four seasons and the marvelous boulders of Maine. He also actively pursued his family genealogy and enjoyed reaching out to his distant relatives in Canada. In addition to his beloved wife, Debby Furbush, Guy was loved by his children, Guy Herbert Furbush III "Butch," Deborah McConnell and her husband, Thomas McConnell, Jamie Borg and her husband, Charles Borg, Michael Furbush and his wife, Amy Furbush, and John Furbush. Fond mem-ories of their grandad are held dearly by his grandchildren, Thomas McConnell and his wife, Julie McConnell, Kathleen Roselle and her husband, Frank Roselle, Bonnie, Jesse and Danielle Furbush. He is also survived and will be miss-ed by his sister, Jean Adams and her husband, Jim Adams; as well as several nieces and nephews. Guy was anxiously awaiting the arrival of great-granddaughter, Madeleine. He was predeceased by his sisters, Virginia and Dell Davis; and a brother, Roy Furbush. In lieu of flowers, Guy would have liked donations made to the Multiple Myeloma Society.
