MEREDITH ; Gilbert R. Clark, 78, died Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at his home with his family by his side.Mr. Clark grew up in Hanover, the son of the late George and Elizabeth Clark.He earned a degree in accounting at Bentley College. After college he worked in accounting in the greater Boston area where he met his wife of 50 years, Jean. He became a certified public accountant in New Hampshire in 1962. His first job in New Hampshire was with Structural Concrete in Laconia. He opened his own practice in 1965 and served the community until his retirement in 2000.Gil was active in the Lakes Region community and St. Charles Church in Meredith. He was president of the Meredith Rotary from 1988-1989 and became a Paul Harris Fellow in 1990. He was Meredith's favorite Santa Claus impersonator.He was loved by his family and all who knew him.Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his younger brother, Arnold Clark.Survivors include his wife, Jean; a daughter, Maribeth Ryan; two sons, Russell and Chris; and grandchildren, Kim and Jeff Ryan.A wake will be held Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the Mayhew Funeral Home, Routes 3 and 104 in Meredith. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Charles Church. A private burial will be later that day.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Meredith Rotary Club.
