LACONIA -- Gerard Fortier, 86, died Aug. 30, 2009, at Lakes Region General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Canada on June 17, 1923, to Elzear and Lydia Fotier. He was raised in Sanford, Maine. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, and became an American citizen during World War II. He will be fondly remembered as an avid Red Sox fan and golfer. He was a loving, kind, devoted father, husband, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Laconia. IN HIS LIFE: He is survived by his loving daughter, Claudia Jeanne and husband, Paul Roy, of Nashua; two sons, Bob Fortier of Hudson, and Dave Fortier of Wilmington, N.C; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his wife, Thelma, of Laconia; a sister, Lucille Guillemette and a brother, Ralph Fortier, both of Sanford, Maine. He was predeceased by his mother and father, brother Ronald Fortier, sisters Paula and Lillian, all of Sanford, Maine. SERVICES: Services will be private and a military burial at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetary in Boscawen.
