Geneva Rose Carter, 67, of Lebanon Junction, died Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at Jewish Hospital. She was the former Geneva Rose Shuffitt and a native of Bullitt County. In addition to being a housewife, homemaker and mother, she was a former assistant manager for the old Holiday House in Lebanon Junction. She also worked as a paper carrier for many years for The Courier-Journal newspaper. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Martha Shuffitt; a son, Harold Carter; brothers, Ernie and Buddy Shuffitt; sisters, Louise Mullins and Joyce Starcher; and a granddaughter, Nikki Lynn Dailey. She is survived by her husband, Herbert C. Carter of Lebanon Junction; a son, Chip (Kathy) Carter of Boston, KY; daughters, Marty (Junior) Garland of Hillview, Janet deKalands of Pioneer Village and Vanessa (Tom) Kallin of Brooks; sisters, Frances Riley of Jefferson City, MO, Vickie McFelia and Rita Boyd, both of Elizabethtown, KY, and Faye Dones of Boston; two brothers, Wayne and Joe Shuffitt of Lebanon Junction; and grandchildren, Danielle and Kayla deKalands of Lebanon Junction, Shelby, Payton and Clayton Carter of Boston and Dylan and Skyler Kallin of Brooks. Her funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2004, at Kappel Funeral Home in Lebanon Junction, with Rev. Harold Decker officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery in Boston. Visitation at the funeral home will be from noon-8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday.
