PENACOOK - Gail Williams, 70, of Penacook, died Jan. 27, 2013, at the Merrimack County Nursing Home in Boscawen, following a long illness. Born on Feb. 4, 1942, in Manchester, the daughter of the late Warren E. and Virginia (Harvey) Manchester. In addition to her husband, Glenn, she is survived by her daughter, Kathy Brown of Concord; and two sons, Warren (Elizabeth) Brown of Raymond and Matthew (Jill) Brown of Penacook; two step-daughters; four grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; one great-grandson; and a brother, Robert, of Bradford. She was predeceased by a younger brother, Steven. Long active in community affairs, she was vice president of the Granite State Symphony Orchestra in its beginning years and was instrumental in organizing the GSSO Children's Concerts in 1997 and 1998. For many years, she was active in local variety shows for such organizations as Sprague Electric (Concord), West Side Rafting Club (Manchester), the Hooksett Women's Club and the Hooksett Entertainers. In addition, she was a crafter of note, participating in local craft fairs for many years. Her handcrafts were sought after by family and friends alike. She was a co-founder of the Penacook School of Martial Arts, where she instituted the Tiny Tigers program for younger students as well as the after-school program. To all students at the school, she was known as Sensei Gram. . services: There will be no calling hours. Burial services will be private. A celebration of her life will be held at Alan's of Boscawen, 133 N. Main St., Boscawen, on Saturday, Feb. 9, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Grateful Nation (at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center), or the Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association.
